Trains
Our trains date from a time before dedicated wheelchair spaces. However, we have adapted one of the carriages in the Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) that is used on most days to accommodate a wheelchair user in the passenger saloon. Where one of our other trains is being used (including the carriages used on our diesel loco days), there is plenty of accommodation for wheelchair users in the guard’s compartment. Ramps are carried on all trains and you will always find our friendly train crew willing to offer help.
Please call our Information Line on 08454 50 54 74 if you would like to check which train we are expecting to use on the day you are planning to visit.
Mobility scooters are only accepted on our trains by prior arrangement.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets at Leeming Bar and Leyburn stations.
Stations
All of our stations have level or gently-sloping access.
There is car parking available at our stations at Leeming Bar, Bedale and Redmire. There is very limited parking at Leyburn station and none at Finghall station.
Station shops
The shop in Leyburn station has a level entrance (the doorway is 79 cm wide, with a 2 cm sill). The shop in Leeming Bar station is in a railway carriage and is not accessible to wheelchair users.
Refreshments
The teabar in Leyburn station has a level entrance (the doorway is 90 cm wide, with a 3 cm sill). The buffet in Leeming Bar station is in a railway carriage and is not accessible to wheelchair users, but there are picnic tables on the platform adjoining the buffet and we will be pleased to bring your refreshments to you outside.
